Het programma Human Encounters bestaat uit korte avontuurlijke dansperformances van talentvolle jonge makers, ervaren makers en onafhankelijk artiesten en gezelschappen.

In deze editie staat er weer een double bill op de vloer! Wij presenteren: The City - A skipping piece van Andreas Hannes, met op dezelfde avond een work-in-progress performance van Vincent Verburg.
 

The City – A skipping piece

The City is the first stage outcome of the practice of continuous skipping (as in skipping down the street).

Two performers enter the stage to begin a stream of infinite skipping, creating pathways and outlining geometric shapes, while repositioning themselves in the imaginary grid of a city.

Andreas Hannes (1987, GR) studied music and practiced film making before he started making dance. Graduate of SNDO – School for New Dance Development (2018), Andreas articulates his work through the notion of (relational, physical or metaphysical) distances. He looks at the tensions and interactions between different bodies, histories, traditions, disciplines and fields, in order to unfold and understand their meeting points and departures. Since 2017, he has been developing the practice of continuous skipping.

The City received the Moving Forward Trajectory Award 2018, that offers to one graduated and promising choreographer the opportunity to develop themselves and their work during one year. Moving Forward is an initiative of Dansmakers Amsterdam and Dansgroep Amsterdam, i.c.w. Dansateliers, DansBrabant and the Moving Futures Network. Tremble, a new skipping production, will premiere in November 2019.

Work-in-progress - Vincent Verburg

In deze eerste opzet van het nieuwe werk van Vincent Verburg werkt Vincent aan het doorbreken van zijn bewegingsmateriaal en gewoontes. Hij kijkt in het moment of hij nog van richting, dynamiek en kwaliteit kan veranderen. Hiermee werkt hij samen met muziek composer Pablo Alanes. In januari wordt dit werk verder uitgewerkt i.s.m. met Jouna Jaarvenpaa uit Finland.
