After a Mexican tour last summer, BLACK ASH has travelled to Austria and Bulgaria this year and will now come to the intimate setting Plein Theater.

BLACK ASH is a raw fairy-tale, inspired by mythology, the figure of the Raven and the legend of La Loba; an eternal wisdom keeper.

The performance speaks of our wild nature and instinct, our inner wisdom to let things die when they must.

It’s a rite of passage, a ritual, a journey of initiation that is as much yours as its mine.

It takes us to a world between worlds, where things have no name and life gets reborn.

ANDREA HACKL

Andrea Hackl is an interdisciplinary artist creating visual and physical poetry. Originally born in Austria, her dance studies have brought her to The Netherlands, after which Amsterdam has become her home base. She works internationally as choreographer, dancer and visual artist / film maker.

Choosing the human body as a main channel of expression, she creates dance and interdisciplinary performances and produces short films that are being presented internationally.

Her work is a celebration of the life force within us human beings, sensorial, kinetic. She wants to share ‘experiences’, a journey. Her artistic and performative practice is influenced by a love for the poetic and fascination for the mystic dimension of life, often inspired by mythology, Buddhism as well as our intrinsic connection to nature.

She equally loves to share her practice & investigation when teaching and is offering her training in studios in form of professional training, workshops or masterclasses.

Touring in the work of other choreographers, she's stood on some of the world's most important stages and her own work has been presented at festivals worldwide.

Her short films [e.g.: SILENT FRAGMENTS & BELE BELTZA] have won several awards for BEST DANCE / EXPERIMENTAL FILM or BEST CHOREOGRAPHY. Her interdisciplinary performance project DREAMER has been awarded BEST LIVE PERFORMANCE at LensDans Festival in Brussels, the jury including distinguished makers such as Michèle Noiret and Isabella Soupart.

BLACK ASH is een rauw sprookje, geïnspireerd door de mythologie, de figuur van de Raaf en de legende van La Loba; een eeuwige wijsheidbewaarder. De voorstelling spreekt over onze wilde natuur en ons instinct, onze innerlijke wijsheid om dingen te laten sterven wanneer dat nodig is. Het is een overgangsrite, een ritueel, een inwijdingsreis die net zo goed van jou is als van mij. Het neemt ons mee naar een wereld tussen werelden, waar dingen geen naam hebben en het leven herboren wordt.

Andrea Hackl

Andrea Hackl is een interdisciplinaire kunstenaar die visuele en fysieke poëzie maakt. Oorspronkelijk geboren in Oostenrijk, heeft haar dansstudie haar naar Nederland gebracht, waarna Amsterdam haar thuisbasis is geworden. Ze werkt internationaal als choreograaf, danser en beeldend kunstenaar/filmmaker.

Ze kiest het menselijk lichaam als belangrijkste expressiekanaal, creëert dans- en interdisciplinaire voorstellingen en produceert korte films die internationaal worden gepresenteerd.

Haar werk is een viering van de levenskracht in ons mensen, zintuiglijk en kinetisch. Ze wil ‘ervaringen’ delen, een reis.

Haar artistieke en performatieve praktijk wordt beïnvloed door een liefde voor het poëtische en fascinatie voor de mystieke dimensie van het leven, vaak geïnspireerd door de mythologie, het boeddhisme en onze intrinsieke verbinding met de natuur.

Ze deelt graag haar praktijk en onderzoek tijdens het lesgeven en biedt haar trainingen aan in studio's in de vorm van professionele trainingen, workshops of masterclasses.

Ze toert met het werk van andere choreografen, heeft op enkele van 's werelds belangrijkste podia gestaan ​​en haar eigen werk is op festivals over de hele wereld gepresenteerd.

Haar korte films [o.a.: SILENT FRAGMENTS & BELE BELTZA] hebben verschillende prijzen gewonnen voor BESTE DANS / EXPERIMENTELE FILM of BESTE CHOREOGRAFIE. Haar interdisciplinaire performanceproject DREAMER werd op het LensDans Festival in Brussel bekroond met BEST LIVE PERFORMANCE, waarbij de jury bestond uit vooraanstaande makers als Michèle Noiret en Isabella Soupart.
