News // April 16, 17 & 18, Plein Theater is participating in a pilot for quick tests for access by the VSCD (association of theatre and concert hall directors)!

From 12:00 to 20:00 visitors can experience the interactive, stop-motion animation installation Ecognosis N52°21'40.4" E4°54'50.4" by artist duo BetweenTwoHands in a pre-bookable time slot. Artistic accessories are also available for sale at the Store.

From April 13 to 21, 43 theaters and concert halls will open their doors to the public. Visitors will undergo a free, quick covid-19 test at a test location. Anyone with a negative test result is welcome. The venues thus ensure a safe theater or concert visit.

How does Plein Theater participate?

As of April 1, Plein Theater is already open as a Pop Up Gallery & Store and can be visited by appointment by 1 or 2 people. Besides visiting the interactive, stop-motion animation installation Ecognosis N52°21'40.4" E4°54'50.4" by artist duo BetweenTwoHands, we sell artistic accessories in our Store, with images made in collaboration with Studio Matusiak.

April 16, 17 & 18 we are participating in the national pilot and thus want to safely welcome a larger audience per time slot!

What does this mean for the visitor?

In order to gain access to the Pop Up Gallery & Store with Ecognosis N52°21'40.4" E4°54'50.4" by artist duo BetweenTwoHands on April 16, 17 & 18, it is necessary for each visitor - in addition to buying a ticket - to be tested for within 40 hours of the start. Please visit www.testenvoortoegang.nl to schedule an appointment.

Don't have corona at the time of testing? Then you will receive a test receipt in the form of a QR Code. This QR Code will be scanned with the CoronaCheck App upon entry.

Purpose of pilot

The temporary opening of theaters and concert halls is part of the approach to opening up the sector in a safe way in phases. In the pilot, the VSCD is working together with the Ministries of Health, Welfare and Sport, OCW, the Open Netherlands Foundation and the Taskforce for the Cultural and Creative Sector. From the pilot comes information about the operation of the test lanes also in the case of upscaling. In addition, the logistics of scanning with special apps will be tested and whether there is sufficient enthusiasm among the public to be tested in advance. Gabbi Mesters: "With the new test results we hope to convince the cabinet to use more quick tests for the reopening of the cultural sector so that in the short term the 1.5 meters is completely abandoned."

Safe visit

Only VSCD venues in the vicinity of a quick test location were selected for the pilot. The theaters and concert halls must adhere to the 1.5 meter protocol, which has already been proven to allow venues to open safely. To limit audience travel movements, there are three testing periods (April 13-15, April 16-18 and April 19-21) spread across different parts of the country. Curfews will be taken into account in programming so that audiences will return home on time.
