Zaterdag 2 juni is de laatste kans om de expositie Stitched Life te bezoeken! Kom kijken naar deze bijzondere werken en maak kennis met mixed media-textielkunstenaar Patricia Guarda. De geëxposeerde werken zijn te koop. De expo is t/m 2 juli te bewonderen tijdens openingstijden van het Eetlokaal (van wo t/m zo vanaf 16:00). De finissage is op 2 juli van 15:30 tot 19:00. 

Stitched Life by Patricia Guarda

Patricia Guarda is een mixed media, textielkunstenaar. Ze groeide op in Portugal omringd door garens, wol en textiel. Als kind leerde haar grootmoeder haar breien en borduren. Het was leuk, herinnert ze zich.

In Amsterdam, waar ze momenteel woont en werkt, heeft Patricia een BA in Textiel aan de Gerrit Rietveld Academie afgerond. textiel werd het belangrijkste medium in haar kunst.

Patricia neemt ons mee terug naar onze kindertijd. Ze combineert natuurlijke materialen, katoen, wol, zijde en linnen; met verf, draad en fotografie. Vrij gebruikt maar heel precies vertelt ze geestige, grappige verhalen met soms een snufje sarcasme. Het proces is bijna net zo belangrijk als het voltooide werk zelf. Ze verft de stoffen met ecokleurstoffen, onderzoekt textuur, voegt verschillende technieken toe en laat de achterkant van haar werken open voor het blote oog... Met opzet laat ze de perfecte imperfecties zien van het langzame en delicate handwerk.

Saturday June 2nd is the last chance to visit the Stitched Life exhibition! Come and see these special works and get to know mixed media textile artist Patricia Guarda. The exhibited works are for sale. The exhibition can be admired until 2 July during opening hours of the Eetlokaal (from Wed to Sun from 16:00). The finissage is on July 2 from 15:30 to 19:00.

Stitched Life by Patricia Guarda

Patricia Guarda is a mixed media, textile artist. She grew up in Portugal surrounded by yarns, wool and fabric. When still a child, her grandmother taught her how to knit and to embroider. It was fun, she recalls.

In Amsterdam, where she currently lives and works, Patricia completed a BA in Textiles at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie. Fabric became the main medium in her art.

Patricia takes us back to our childhood. She combines natural materials, cotton, wool, silk and linen; with paint, thread and photography. Used freely but very precisely she tells witty, funny stories sometimes with a pinch of sarcasm. The process is almost as important as the finished work itself. She eco-dyes the fabrics, explores texture, adds different techniques and leaves the back of her works open to the naked eye... Intentionally showing the perfect imperfections of the slow and delicate work of the hand.
